Who starts a diet and exercise program on halloween? Me!
Why?
Because after successfully completing three surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation it's time to get my shit back in shape! And today is my cancerversary, so it's a perfect day to start something new!
Lucia and I bought the T25 program in April of this year - a whopping 7 months ago. But being in the middle of treatments and surgeries, I didn't want to start something I couldn't finish. Starting a program that I was destined to fail is just dumb. I made a vow to begin the T25 just as soon as I was able.
What sold me on T25 over the hundreds of other weight management/strength training programs was that within each workout is a modified version, so that people like myself who are physically in rough shape from the cancer, are still able to participate and get the same results as everyone else. AND the fact that it really is ONLY 25 minutes a day. I just hate exercising, but I can do 25 minutes. I much prefer raking leaves or shoveling snow over exercising!
So, today was day 1. A cardio workout. After the first 5 minutes, my legs were burning, but I kept my eye on that countdown clock and we finished the workout.
The photo above is my inspiration. This was me in 2008 (6 years ago). My expectations are high, but cancer has taught me that the possibilities in life are endless - so dream BIG!
Starting stats:
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 157
Hips: 41.5"
Waist: 31"
Right arm: 11"
Left arm: 11"
Today's food: bowl of frosted flakes for breakfast, 2 pieces of mini candy during trick or treating, 1/2 chicken wrap, 1 piece of ck broc pizza.
One small thing I did today to better my diet: I did not have my cappuccino this morning. No need for the excess calories in my drinks. I drank water instead.
