Along with all the body changes, I have also experienced major weight gain throughout my cancer treatments. The steroids I had to take during chemo to help with the nausea aided in my weight gain of almost 20 lbs. On average, based on my height of 5'9", I should weight anywhere between 130 and 160. Anything over 162 and I am considered over weight.
For all of my younger life, I was blessed with the 'skinny gene' - UNTIL my metabolism began slowing down at around age 37 (3 years before diagnosis). Most of my life I preferred to be skinny and stressed over fat and happy. Today, having been through cancer - it's a different story altogether. I prefer to be tone and healthy, both mentally and physically and I look at skinny vs fat in a totally different way.
Now that my active treatments are over and I only take my daily tamoxifen, I created a weight chart based on all my past doctor visits. It helps to put my weight into perspective so I can continue on my path of tone and healthy. Plus, I can keep a closer eye on any possible weight gain due to the tamoxifen.
